Custom fields on a lead

Every office tracks something the standard fields miss: employer, whether the buyer is age qualified, whether flood insurance has been quoted. Custom fields give those a real home instead of the notes box.

Add a field

  1. Go to Custom fields and name it in plain words, like "Employer".
  2. Pick the type: text, number, date, yes or no, or a list of choices.
  3. Save. The field now appears on every lead in the brokerage.

Each field also becomes a merge token you can drop into a saved message, shown on the page next to the field so you can copy it.

The type is enforced when a value is saved, so a number field cannot quietly end up holding "probably about 400k". A value for a field that has been archived is refused rather than stored.

Who can do what?

Creating and editing a field is brokerage configuration and needs settings permission, because it changes what everyone sees on every lead. Filling in a value on a lead is ordinary lead work and needs only edit access to that lead.

What happens if I archive a field?

It stops appearing on leads and stops accepting new values. Data already recorded is not rewritten.
